Building and Maintaining Optimal Health
The body is a living organism that has a central hard drive (the brain) controlling every movement, decision, and regulatory process. These processes work together to keep the body in a state of health or homeostasis.
The body wants to maintain a level of homeostasis. So when there is something that interferes with this level (stress) the central control system gives off a signal. These signals can be in the form of pain, fever, or swelling. It is your body trying to fix the problem and get back to a homeostatic level.
So health is when your body is in a state of complete homeostasis, when there are no stressors on the body and it does not need to fight off injury or infection. Unfortunately in the world we live in, this is not the case; our bodies are constantly bombarded by stressors. The air we breathe, bacteria we pick up, our sedentary jobs and food we eat all affect how our bodies work and that it is constantly battling to keep us healthy.
With the right requirements our bodies can fight off infection, heal faster, and be stronger to help maintain homeostasis and optimize health.
